The newer Avid versions use UME for export, a different AMA plugin and less import support.

You may have issues accessing older projects that used the QT AMA plugin.

In one open bin have all your Transcoded Avid media clips selected.

In another bin select the modified master clips and select relink and then the second option link to selected clips in open bins. This forces the relink to the selected clips.

I’m afraid your out of luck. The Free Avid version has limited export options and none allow transfer to another NLE.

You can’t even open the bins or project in the paid version of Avid. That said it’s not a good idea to move from Avid to Premiere. If it’s simple just export a guide and re cut in Premiere. It will be quicker.

Worth noting that projects and bins aren’t interchable between the full Avid version and the free version.

So you can only continue with whatever version you started with.

Going from Avid to Resolve is a valid workflow and you can round trip back to Avid afterwards. So if it just grading or trimming that would work.

Avid AVB files are Avid bins. They are files that contain the metadata of the project. Masterclips and sequences.

They are unique to Avid.

They aren’t the media.

As we now have linking and the old legacy import its easier to use the term ingest.

So you can ingest by linking and either edit directly with that linked media or transcode if you want the benefit of Avid managed media and an edit friendly codec.

If you’ve converted to rec709 then you should need any LUT.

Yes ensure the tracks you want to work with are enabled (and those you don’t want are disabled.

Mark your sequence In and Out. Drag the clip icon in the top right of the record window to a bin to make a sub sequence. You can then consolidate that sub sequence.

Avid has readme docs for each version and that tells you what OS versions are supported but I can tell you there is no way MC V6 will run on anything current.

I think it supported OSX Lion.

Select all the sequences and consolidate to a new drive. You will get new sequences linked to the new media.

However if some media can’t be consolidated you may have to transcode first.

If you want the 3rd screen to show full screen playback you need an output box.

Black magic AJA or similar.

MC uses GPU more nowadays but mostly to accelerate real-time effects.

Faster CPU cores is still the best route and a mid range GPU.

Its no surprise Avid is working to price out perpetual licenses and move people to subscription. For Avid editors they will need to look at the work they do and weigh up the additional cost. Its no fun paying more but set against what I charge per hour its a drop in a years ocean.

Make sure they do record guide audio on the cameras. However poor the quality is.

Make sure they use a capper board correctly marked up with scene take etc and make sure that clapper info is narrated at the start of each take for the audio file.

Export same as source from Avid. Check the quality of that. Shoukd be good.

Mpeg 2 for DVD at 85mins is pushing it (you want VBR)

For the bluray you can do AVC ata good bitrate and it shoukd look good.

Forget Media tool you can’t move files with it just delete them.

Avids answer to moving files is to use consolidate but that’s pretty cr*p as a solution in your case.

I’d open the Avid media files folder on each drive. Then open the MXF folder you shoukd have a 1 folder and possibly some other numbered folders. Possi”bly even a bg_1 folder.

Select a the clips in the source bin (ctrl A)

Then press G to clear In and Out points.

Eizo colour edge via an IO box.

Divide it up and test each part.

Try exporting just one track at a time.

Basically you need to track down any errors in the sequence.

Just stick to frameflex and avoid using image resize.

That way you are using whatever source pixels you have.

Once you have applied frameflex to a source clip you can key frame it in the timeline.

Try breaking the sequence into smaller parts or try mixing down smaller groups of tracks.

What version MC and OS are you on?

What type of export are you attempting?

What happens if you launch and create a new project

Or launch and create new user settings first.

The projects are cross platform. However linked media may loose the path as they present differently on Mac and PC so you may end up having to relink media.

If you are re cutting a flattened version of your original output then no you don’t have the original source data.

But if you are cutting a sequence made up of the original source clips then yes the timecode generator allies you to specify what timecode is displayed as the record time or each track in the sequence.

That’s the classic sign of a display driver issue.

Id look see if there are alternative drivers available. Even if older.

I’d suggest finding out what’s happened.

Select one offline clip. Match frame to that clip in a bin.

Ensure source file and path are enabled as column headings.

Then look at that location for that clip.

There is no spec for delivery to phones as different phones may behave differently. Generally Web based content doesn’t suffer from cut off but to be safe I’d stick to 90% width and height to contain titles.

A number of ways to do this.

You could restrict your user account from reading the clone drive via permissions. While ensuring the cloning software is using an account that does have access.

The other simple solution is to have the cloned content in a folder on the clone drive.

There are only certain I/O solutions that Avid supports and they are accessed via the I/O solutions provider as additional software.

Datavideo don’t provide that so you won’t be able to capture directly that way.

However if it has its on capture software I’d capture via that and then ingest the resulting files.

Apple removed QuickTime in Catalina in fact they nolonger support any 32bit application support so you can’t install QuickTime or legacy components.

So in MC 2020 Avid have added an alternative.

In the export list at the bottom you have MOV and MP4 these allow you to select a codec including H264 It’s much faster and simpler than earlier versions.

Are you working on shared storage? That’s how Avid manages multiple users in the same media files location.

Did you try making new user settings. And is Enable bin sharing on 3rd party storage ticked in general settings (it should be unticked)

Most NLEs vary speed by removing frames or duping frames or blending frames. All will alter smoothness of motion.

In Media Composer you can try fluid motion effect. In Premiere it’s optical flow I think.

They are processor heavy and can introduce their own issues.
