<p>The newer Avid versions use UME for export, a different AMA plugin and less import support. </p>
<p>You may have issues accessing older projects that used the QT AMA plugin. </p>

<p>In another bin select the modified master clips and select relink and then the second option link to selected clips in open bins. This forces the relink to the selected clips. </p>

The Free Avid version has limited export options and none allow transfer to another NLE.</p>
<p>You can&#8217;t even open the bins or project in the paid version of Avid. That said it&#8217;s not a good idea to move from Avid to Premiere. If it&#8217;s simple just export a guide and re cut in Premiere. It will be quicker. </p>

<p>So you can only continue with whatever version you started with. </p>
<p>Going from Avid to Resolve is a valid workflow and you can round trip back to Avid afterwards. So if it just grading or trimming that would work. </p>

<p>Avid AVB files are Avid bins. They are files that contain the metadata of the project. Masterclips and sequences. </p>
<p>They are unique to Avid. </p>

<p>It&#8217;s not advised to live between NLE systems unless it&#8217;s an approved workflow. </p>

<p>So you can ingest by linking and either edit directly with that linked media or transcode if you want the benefit of Avid managed media and an edit friendly codec. </p>

<p>Mark your sequence In and Out. Drag the clip icon in the top right of the record window to a bin to make a sub sequence. You can then consolidate that sub sequence.</p>

<p>Its no surprise Avid is working to price out perpetual licenses and move people to subscription. For Avid editors they will need to look at the work they do and weigh up the additional cost. Its no fun paying more but set against what I charge per hour its a drop in a years ocean.</p>

However poor the quality is.</p>
<p>Make sure they use a capper board correctly marked up with scene take etc and make sure that clapper info is narrated at the start of each take for the audio file.</p>

<p>I tend to go through the video clips and add the scene and take number to each clips column metadata.</p>

<p>For the bluray you can do AVC ata good bitrate and it shoukd look good. </p>

<p>Avids answer to moving files is to use consolidate but that&#8217;s pretty cr*p as a solution in your case. </p>

<p>I&#8217;d open the Avid media files folder on each drive. Then open the MXF folder you shoukd have a 1 folder and possibly some other numbered folders. Possi&#8221;bly even a bg_1 folder. </p>

<p>That way you are using whatever source pixels you have. </p>
<p>Once you have applied frameflex to a source clip you can key frame it in the timeline. </p>

<p>But if you are cutting a sequence made up of the original source clips then yes the timecode generator allies you to specify what timecode is displayed as the record time or each track in the sequence. </p>

<p>You can&#8217;t consolidate or transcode offline clips. </p>

<p>However if it has its on capture software I&#8217;d capture via that and then ingest the resulting files.</p>
<p>For VHS you probably need a VHS deck&hellip;</p>

<p>In the export list at the bottom you have MOV and MP4 these allow you to select a codec including H264 It&#8217;s much faster and simpler than earlier versions. </p>

<p>Renaming projects can be problematic. You have to rename the project folder and the. Avp file and the project settings. </p>
<p>But Avid media created and linked media is managed by Avid based on the name of the project and you can&#8217;t alter that. </p>

<p>ProRes LT or similar. </p>
<p>And yes lacie drives aren&#8217;t the best for masses of media. </p>
<p>I&#8217;d get a USB 3 SSD drive to transcode to. </p>
<p>Even at 80 mins of footage you won&#8217;t need a very large drive. 512GB would be plenty.</p>

That&#8217;s how Avid manages multiple users in the same media files location.</p>
<p>Did you try making new user settings. And is Enable bin sharing on 3rd party storage ticked in general settings (it should be unticked) </p>

All will alter smoothness of motion. </p>

<p>In Media Composer you can try fluid motion effect. In Premiere it&#8217;s optical flow I think. </p>
<p>They are processor heavy and can introduce their own issues. </p>
