Importing still images causes Avid to crash
Ever since this morning, importing still images (jpeg, tiff, png, whatever) causes my Avid to crash. I get the “spinning ball of death” and I have to force quit. This has never been a problem before this morning.
I’m running Media Composer 2021.9.0 on a Mac Pro using Big Sur Version 11.6. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Avid 2021.9 isn’t supported for 11.6 only 11.5 I’ve seen other posts of issues with 11.6.

Thanks Pat. The workaround I started doing is linking the file and then transcoding it once the linked clip is in a bin.

Hi Guy. Pat is correct that 11.6.0 is causing quite a bit of issues. Not sure if that’s the exact cause of the issue you’re having, but I’m glad you’ve found a workaround.

I agree that the “work around” is to first link the still images and then consolidate. I had a recent issue where my user settings got corrupted and that messed up my ability to link some images. With a new user setting that issue went away.
