    Hi All i have a very simple timeline in Avid media composer first the free version, 1 video track 2 audio tracks, straight cuts im trying to get it over to premier but i cant see any option to export edls, xmls, aafs etc anyone have any suggestions? thanks

    I’m afraid your out of luck. The Free Avid version has limited export options and none allow transfer to another NLE.

    You can’t even open the bins or project in the paid version of Avid. That said it’s not a good idea to move from Avid to Premiere. If it’s simple just export a guide and re cut in Premiere. It will be quicker.

    Adding to Pat’s advice, don’t forget that once you have your exported file in the Premiere Pro Sequence, you can use the “scene edit detection” command to find all of your edit points.
    (right click on video clip in sequence, and select “scene edit detection”)

    Thanks Guys ive downloaded the trial version to test before i buy, i have exported edit as aaf from avid it opens fine in Premier im really just trying to get more time working in avid as my next gig is on Avid. Cheers

    To export a timeline from Avid Media Composer First to Premiere, you can use the AAF export function

    Go to File > Export > AAF and choose your export settings. Once you have exported the AAF file, you can import it into Premiere by going to File > Import and selecting the AAF file
