<p>I installed 12.7.2 on an external drive, booted from it, and my R680 function was back.  My RAID mounted.  So, I installed 12.7.2 on my internal boot SSD, and all was well again.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve since upgraded the OS to 12.7.3 and all is still well, RAID is mounting.  ATTO Configuration Tool is working as normal.  I&hellip;</p>

I expect this will be fairly routine now that most of the original drives have several years of mostly constant usage.</p>
<p>A silver lining is that I can still find new drives of the same model for about a quarter of what I paid for them when I first installed all eight 12&hellip;</p>

<p>To answer your first question:  I believe the drives are producing errors because they are old, and have been spinning almost non-stop since installation, and I&#8217;m using the RAID almost daily and all day long for video editing and DAW functions.  So, nothing&hellip;</p>

When it discovers a volume (disk) with a bad sector, the management app notifies me, and warns it may be going to fail soon.  I can keep working.  I&#8217;ve apparently lost no data, but I will keep getting the messages continuously until I put in a fresh drive and let the RAID rebuild.</p>

<p>If you don&#8217;t want to reconfigure your prefs repeatedly, I suggest:</p>
<p>Reset them.  Start a new project.  Set your prefs as you like them.  Quit.  Find the prefs file.  I can&#8217;t help you where they are on Windows.  But, after you find them, zip the prefs file, and then save an&hellip;</p>

<p>You didn&#8217;t state OSX or Windows.  Details matter.  On OSX, 99% of the strange, inconsistent behavior can be vanquished by resetting the preferences.  I do that at least four times per week, as Pr self corrupts its preferences stupid frequently.  </p>

In the past Tolis claimed ArGest is required for Catalina.  Tolis was extremely slow in the past getting builds for new versions of OSX released.  So, IDK if ArGest is supported on Big Sur yet.  It has no mention of Big Sur capability on the OWC site.</p>

<p>My ATTO / E8 combo isn&#8217;t a JBOD.  It&#8217;s a RAID, and I&#8217;m running it as a RAID6 currently.</p>
<p>You are correct that ATTO has discontinued calling their RAID adapters by that name, and are calling them HBAs.  They&#8217;ve also discontinued the 6 Gbs line for 12 Gbs products.</p>
<p>If I end up needing a new PCIe HBA, I&#8217;m going to need to&hellip;</p>

RAW formats are especially hard on processors.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re still shopping, my advice is to buy a lot more computer than you think you&#8217;ll need, because every year, it seems, it&#8217;s&hellip;</p>

Then, you can cancel, and find it.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not sure if Pr does this, but in some NLEs, you can run the Find command (CMD-F) on the timeline, and enter &#8220;offline,&#8221; and it will highlight them.</p>

Pr would go into Not Responding during the Open process.  I had to start a new project and import the old one in to resume work.  I did that eight or ten times.<br />I tried the usual troubleshoot routines to no avail.  What finally fixed it was that I ran the Delete Unused command.</p>

You could try searching for those and deleting them.  Sounds like something could have been left over after you uninstalled.</p>
<p>You could also try the trick of importing your project into a clean new project, and/or creating a new Sequence, and copy-paste your problem sequence into the new, clean one.  </p>

They are usually a small number of samples in duration, and probably won&#8217;t affect your sync  visibly.</p>
<p>There are other plosive reducing plug-ins on the market than iZotope RX.  Accusonus has one.</p>

<p>I have an Enhance (Enchance&#8230; Good one!) E8.  It has no lights other than the eight for drive activity, nor have I ever heard it beep.  My drives sound like they spin up, although maybe I&#8217;m just hearing the fan, and feeling the air move when I enable the power switch.</p>
<p>Sounds like you may have blown a fuse (if there is one) or had a solder&hellip;</p>

I have the first gen ERA bundle, and have demoed RX8.  Both have worked without any crashing on my MacPro7,1 running 10.15.6 and 10.15.7.</p>
<p>I love the simplicity of the ERA effects, and they mostly work very well.  I demoed RX8 only to try out the noise reducer, and am unimpressed with the results, given the&hellip;</p>

<p>BTW, I&#8217;ve also read elsewhere that you can&#8217;t mount a new MacPro with an external drive.  That&#8217;s not true.  There are some &#8220;security&#8221; features one has to address, but if this wasn&#8217;t possible, I would have been in deep doo doo.  I suggest other readers take&hellip;</p>

This is good to know, but I do not like the FX Factory model for plug-ins.  I&#8217;ve written to several plug-in developers of Pr plug-ins and asked them to take this on.</p>
<p>Adobe could improve on track matting easily as FCP 7 did by making mattes one of the Transfer Modes.</p>

I&#8217;ve had to reinstall Pr several times because it gets borked somehow.  I&#8217;ve had to reinstall Ae once.  And I&#8217;ve had to reinstall Catalina way too many times.  Since there are few utilities to fix Catalina problems, reinstalling is what I do.  I&#8217;ve got fiber internet, so&hellip;</p>

You did the right thing my not trying the same fix over and over and over.  Finding corruptions that cause weird performance are often a matter of search and destroy until you find the culprit.</p>
