November 4, 2020 at 6:59 amGreat to hear Tolis has been acquired by OWC. Now I hope OWC stops bundling the myLTO software with their Mercury Pro LTO device. And instead offer Bru-PE or Argest with the Mercury Pro LTO.
Looking forward to new stuff from Tolis.

July 12, 2021 at 1:32 pmHi Guys and Girls.
Been using Bru PE for years at our company, now I see this.
Sorry if I am a bit behind on the news, but truly sad to see and hear of this.My question is that I am now in desperate need of the Bru PE LTFS software and I see it needs a password to open the install file.
We are a small business and really cannot afford to now move our 400+ LTO archive across to new systems and formats. Is there anybody that can maybe assist with this or are we now a bit screwed moving forward?
Will our current BRU PE license work with the new Argest system?Bit in the dark here and hope someone can show me some light.
Thanks in advance.
Dean

July 12, 2021 at 11:25 pmSo now the question is…for those of us who were under support when the flawed version of Windows Argest went away, is OWC going to offer support to us?

July 13, 2021 at 7:16 amAny idea if our old license will work with this or can be “coverted” some how?
Really don’t have another $549 to get the new version… -

July 13, 2021 at 7:35 amIf you have a working Bru PE, it will continue to work and read and write Bru tapes. I have 2 and they work.

July 13, 2021 at 7:37 amYes, mine is also still running 100%, but the issue is when you do decide to upgrade the Mac, the older versions won’t work…

July 13, 2021 at 1:18 pmGoing from BRU to ArGest is a paid upgrade. In the past Tolis claimed ArGest is required for Catalina. Tolis was extremely slow in the past getting builds for new versions of OSX released. So, IDK if ArGest is supported on Big Sur yet. It has no mention of Big Sur capability on the OWC site.
Tim Jones posted a while back that OWC would honor existing BRU support contracts. But, given the long lapse between the closure of Tolis and the appearance of ArGest on OWC, who knows if the service contracts went into suspended animation during that lapse or not.

July 16, 2021 at 7:08 pmGreat! Do OWC provide a demo version of Argest Backup ?
Trying to find out if it works better now.
I’ve tried the Argest Backup version 4.0 on different platforms Ubuntu Linux, MacOS 10.13 and Windows Server 2016.
There were frequent runtime crashs…
