Premiere freezes when clicking on Effect Controls SOURCE tab
Chris Taylor
April 2, 2021 at 10:54 pmI’m on Premiere CC2021 on a Mac OS Big Sur and often when clicking on the source tab, I get the spinning beach ball. In the past when this frequently happened I could “kill -SEGV [PID]” and it would clear the freeze but now when I do it, I no longer can save the project.
This is my 3rd issue with Premiere in the last month and instead of getting work done, I’m dealing with Adobe’s crap and all I want to do is drive a long, blunt object though my computer screen… or maybe I need to just switch to DaVinci, that would be cheaper. Until I’m finished with this project however, I’m stuck with the Barney Fife of editing software.

April 11, 2021 at 7:30 pmIt’s been nine days since you posted, and may have figured it out already, but this sounds to me like you have some corruption that’s causing Pr to go into Not Responding mode. First thing I’d do is start a new Project, and Import the old Project entirely, or Sequence by Sequence until the issue recurs, and then you might narrow it down to a Sequence, footage, effect, etc.
Just a few days ago, I was having Ae freeze up whenever I clicked a certain Comp that Ae didn’t like. Pr has frequent corruption issues for me. One bad effect or asset can bring the whole session to a stop.
