Get rid of Popping “P” in a voice over,
Posted by Adam Berch on November 21, 2020 at 4:56 pmI recorded a Voice Over into a Zoom and when I put it into Premiere Pro, every time he says a word with a “P” in it, there is a popping sound.
How can I get rid of the ‘P” popping sound?
Thanks in advance

November 22, 2020 at 6:48 pmI would try a high pass filter first. See if you can reduce the pop significantly without negatively impacting the voice too much. You’ll have to experiment with the frequency.

November 22, 2020 at 8:46 pmIzotope rx addresses this issue perfectly, although correct mic positioning and recording in the first place is the real solution

December 1, 2020 at 10:48 pmThese are called plosives and you can lessen them with EQ and volume changes around the affected area or, if using Audition, you could apply the FFT filter to the area of concern and dial in the settings.

December 2, 2020 at 9:42 pmAnother method is to set your Timeline to Audio Time Units, unlink the audio from the video, zoom in to the plosives, and snip them out. They are usually a small number of samples in duration, and probably won’t affect your sync visibly.
There are other plosive reducing plug-ins on the market than iZotope RX. Accusonus has one.
