Duplicate the layer with the fingers, path it out frame by frame (rotoscope) and place that layer above the object.

I’d search out a LaCie monitor . . . and only rely on an external NTSC monitor for what you’ll actually get.

I recall seeing a tutorial a few years back that used expressions to do this type of effect. I think it demonstrated swirling a string of text around an object. Sorry, can’t recall where I saw it, but I believe expressions were used extensively. Maybe Computer Arts magazine? hmmmm

Color correct each shot then render out to a format you can bring into FCP or Premiere.

From Premiere, try exporting a Quicktime Animation file, or Quicktime PNG file.

Try using a different codec than ProRes. Try Animation, or PNG or PhotoJPG. Something that is cross-platform.
