    To quote DVD Studio Pro:

“You can create a disc image in one of two industry-standard formats — Cutting Master Format (CMF) version 1.0 or version 2.0; or Disc Description Protocol (DDP) version 2.1 or version 3.0. Write images to a hard drive, DVD, or digital linear tape (DLT) for transfer to the replication facility.”

I recently created a disc image on a DVD-R and everything worked out.

I’ve noticed this too. A bug? I’m not sure. I think I remember re-creating my menu structure, linking, etc., and eventually it cleared after enough tries. Frustrating.

If you think everything is correct, try copying everything into a new project, or try creating your project again from scratch to see if that get’s the bug out of it. I sometimes run into issues with Illustrator doing this . . . I simply copy all of my artwork and paste it into a new document and all is well.

  • Apple just can’t get DVD burning right. Get really good media, burn it slow and let it verify. You will still get some that fail, but you’ll increase your odds of getting a good burn.

Output your NTSC-DV as anamorphic 16×9. In your authoring program, make sure you check everywhere that you’re intending to author a 16×9 program – authoring programs sometimes have lots of areas to check for 4×3 references. Import your 16×9 clips and make sure they are flagged as 16×9. To do a test: create a short 16×9 clip, render it out, import it into your authoring program, author the dvd then try it on a 4×3 set.

I would keep it all in one sequence.

May 13, 2008 at 5:32 pm in reply to: Capture Problems FCP

I ran into a capture problem and discovered that G5’s / FCP have a Firewire conflict when using more than one Firewire device. I have an external Lacie 1TB drive, connected it via USB instead of Firewire and all is good. Known problem on the Apple support site.

I ran into this problem on a G5. Would not capture from a camera connected via firewire. I had an external firewire hard drive connected that was conflicting with the firewire device trying to capture. I believe this is a known Apple hardware issue. My external drive has USB so I switched over to that and everything works great. Do a search on Apple’s support section, or Google and you’ll find some info on this.

April 15, 2008 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Really slow response when scrubbing in viewer

I’ve narrowed it down to an audio issue. When I drag the clip into the sequence and scrub, it lags hard. If I mute the audio, it scrubs fast. I’ve tried changing the sequence setting to 44.1, 48khz, etc. doesn’t help.

Threshold, that’s what I was going to suggest.
