I’m using Mac and PC which both work great for working in AE. Dell XPS 710 Core 2 Duo and a Mac G5 Dual 2.7. Load them up with ram, get second hard drives for data and if you’re doing broadcast, an external ntsc monitor.

Try the Canopus ADVC-300. I’ve used it connected via Firewire with no issues – on XP. Make sure you select the correct option for output in preferences.

Aren’t those crosshair points used to track objects, for instance 3D generated graphics that overlay over video such as the characters Pirates 2? Is this the same thing you’re taking about? What DVD are you referring to?
