You can also use the Canopus ADVC-110, ADVC-300, etc., connected to your computer via firewire, then from there out to a monitor via RCA, or S-Video, etc.

Intel Core 2 Duo is fast. Get at least 2gb of RAM. If you get 3GB you’ll need to set up your computer to make it work with After Effects properly. I suggest a Dell, high quality components, good warranty. I’m on Mac and PC, and have had Dell’s, a Sony VAIO, home built systems, and Dell’s work the best in my opinion. The VAIO was a piece of junk . . . hard drive failed within 30 days, VAIO shipped a new drive and the computer never worked properly for the next 9 months . . . I reinstalled the OS at least 3 times. So, I replaced it with a Core 2 Duo Dell, good stuff.

I agree with that, and make sure to view your work through an NTSC monitor. You’ll be amazed at the difference of working in AE on a CRT and how your work appears on a calibrated monitor . . . in addition to live and action areas and how your titles and graphics fit. I can’t stress enough the importance of having your work viewed on a monitor.
Also, make sure your comp dimensions are correct for broadcast.

32h x 4096w seems wrong . . . that’s really thin. maybe it’s 320h x 4096w – that’s more of a banner size.

Is pulldown an issue here? Animation: 4:4:4, ProRes 4:2:2.

Videotape ink squirting into a liquid – water most likely. I’ve done this before using ink and a glass of water. The trick is to get the water to not shake too much, which if you play that video back you’ll see about 1/3 of the way through the water sways back and forth a little. Then overlay the clips with different transfer modes. Something better than a glass would be a fish tank so you’d not have rounded sides and highlights to deal with.
