Ram, processor, raid or 10,000 rpm hard drives – more than one drive is key. Read more about video card open GL2 and AE on the Adobe site: https://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/opengl.html

If you need FCP in addition to AE, PP, etc., a Mac is your only choice. Is there an issue with After Effects and Open GL on OSX? I think there is. Is it a big deal? Might not be for you.
Boxx systems (pc based: http://www.boxxtech.com) are speedy machines.
Lots of options, but it always depends on what you need and how much money you’re able to spend.

Looks like vector objects (or bitmap for that matter), rotating around an axis that’s outside of the comp area.

I’d probably mask off the saber when it’s behind the other guy, since it probably only does that for a few frames at a time.

I make sure to adjust output levels from anything from PhotoShop to 16, 235, run the NTSC filter, and in AE, I use Scopo Gigio (https://www.metadma.com/ScopoGigio.html) to check the waveform levels to make sure they are not too high (I try to keep stuff at around 100 – 110). Final Cut has great built-in tools for measuring color and luma output. Anyone know if AE CS3 has built in vectorscopes and waveform monitors?

In Encore, you might be able to set it up to loop a certain amount of times, or, create a movie that animates, and once finished, goes to another movie clip that where the text title is not animated.

You need to view your work on a calibrated external monitor. What you see in AE is not what you’ll see on an NTSC monitor. View your work on a vectorscope and waveform monitor to make sure your colors fall into the safe broadcast range. And, make sure you put titles within the safe zones.

Hope that helps!
