When you save your TIFF, under Pixel Order, make sure you select Interleaved. I don’t know what the other option is for but somehow it got selected while I was working and kept defaulting to it . . . and I couldn’t read the TIFF’s back in. So I reselected Interleaved and everything is back to normal.

Is it a Lacie drive that you’re using? I have a Lacie external and I’ve gone through two power supplies already. I just ordered a new one and I’m waiting to receive it so I can get to some backup data.

July 27, 2008 at 7:15 pm in reply to: How do I sync audio with a specific frame rate

Audio is based on time. Think of it as separate from video which is based on frames. Audio works for any frame rate . . . be it 24fps or 29.97 or 30 or 59.94 . . . as long as the length of your clip in time matches the length of your audio you’re good to go. So, if you have 2 minutes of video, two minutes of audio will match regardless of frames per second. It’s a waveform. Make sense?

What’s your computer specs? Do you need to upgrade hardware? Raid? Ram? What video card do you have?

Have you tried rendering out and importing into FCP or Premiere then trying playback?

I would try a different codec . . . QT Photo JPG, QT Animation, QT PNG. What format are you to deliver?

You might also try Particle World – with it set to Lens Convex. Andrew Kramer over at Video Copilot made a tutorial called Energy that demonstrates this . . . kind of makes a bubbly effect.

If it’s intended market is EU, I’d lean towards PAL, but I’d ask them what they would like before spending a ton of time editing at a particular size and frame rate.
