On whatever I was running before .12 I had to move the Pro Tools plugins out of their folder on at least one of my machines.  Most annoying.  Seems to be OK now.</p>
<p>MC is of course not perfect, but it has come a long way in the last few years.</p>

The Nvidia conflict is really annoying for those of us with Mac Pros.</p>
<p>I would suggest folks learn ffmpeg.  On macOS I use ff-works as an interface to it, but one can do more at the command line.  There are Windows GUIs for it as well.  It&#8217;s a shame that Squeeze and it&#8217;s competitors are&hellip;</p>

Especially if you don&#8217;t occasionally spin up the drives. Tape is many times more reliable.  Due to budgetary constraints (I&#8217;m poor;-))  I&#8217;m still using LTO5 which is still working fine. </p>
<p>It&#8217;s not IF a hard drive will fail, it&#8217;s when!</p>

My understanding is that is started with Snow Leopard.  What Apple killed with Catalina was the ability to run 32 bit apps.  That is not even the issue with Wirecast and Resolve not supporting High Sierra and Mojave.  I have not seen any info as to why they do not, but I would think it is not wanting to&hellip;</p>

<p>I have appreciated your writings over the years, but keep in mind that many of us are on tight budgets and even some bigger organizations still have cheesegraters running mission critical apps.  It is not that difficult to allow one&#8217;s apps to run on older versions and just have a caveat that states it will not be supported.</p>

I have had to capture with Media Express and then link or import in MC.</p>
<p>You did not say if you have tried other version of Desktop Video.  Trying other versions is a normal thing for many&hellip;</p>

<p>You fix this?</p>
<p>One thing I remind folks about is the fact that the newest Desktop Video is not necessarily the best.  One must sometimes experiment with different versions.  I&#8217;ve had some issues with 12 but have not tried to capture anything.</p>

<p>I have advised folks for years to not use Media Composer for this type of capture.  The Shuttle to Media Express might work.</p>
<p>Also,  there is an issue with some Mac Pros on Mojave with stuttering audio,  but your 2012&hellip;</p>

<p>I&#8217;m thinking one can export to something like DNxHD with the markers, then transcode that in ffmpeg to h.264 or h.265.  Keep in mind that mp4 is a container, not a codec.  Both matter.</p>

<p>I think Handbrake is ffmpeg underneath.  It does not have all the options one can do in ffmpeg at the command line.  ffmpeg is a good thing to learn.</p>
<p>As far as the bitrate in Resolve,  I believe I have had it work in some previous version.  It&#8217;s possible that the version you are using is broken.  Those compressed outputs is apparently not&hellip;</p>

Also,  that drive is slow by today&#8217;s standards.  I would Transcode the entire timeline to a smaller picture size such as 720 and a lowend DNX codec.</p>

<p>I also have 16 running but I am on 10.13.6.  I would go to 13 before doing anything else.  Also make sure you are running the NVIDIA web driver.</p>
<p>What happened when you tried to install the CUDA driver?  Specifics help us help you.</p>

Have you tried installing an earlier version of Resolve?</p>
<p>Sometimes you have to pick which bugs you can live with. I have found this particularly true over the years with BMD&#8217;s drivers.  Speaking of which,  what if you bypass the US4K by uninstalling the Desktop Video/drivers?</p>
