I’m having trouble with DaVinci 16 refusing to Audio Scrub. (Please don’t tell me to make sure scrubbing is enabled on the edit drop down menu!) Specifics are these: Resolve 16.2.7.010. I-Mac Retina 5K (late 2015) Catalina 10.15.7 OS; 3.3GHz i-5 processor; 16GB RAM. I’m outputting through a UltraUtudio 4K. Everything works just fine when playing normally, but audio must when scrubbing – although all of the meters in Resolve still show a signal.

The type of video file or its resolution doesn’t seem to make a difference. Scrubbing an audio only clip doesn’t work either. Scrubbing doesn’t work on any of the pages: Edit, Color Correction, Fairlight, all of them mute the scrubbing audio.

The technical support people at Blackmagic have replicated the problem and now simply say that they have reported it to the “developers”. Unfortunately that leaves me few options other than to go back to Premiere (ugh!) Does anybody have any ideas??

Was it working previously? Have you tried installing an earlier version of Resolve?

Sometimes you have to pick which bugs you can live with. I have found this particularly true over the years with BMD’s drivers. Speaking of which, what if you bypass the US4K by uninstalling the Desktop Video/drivers?

    Hope you find a workaround,

    Robert

I wonder if it is the combination of an i5 laptop with minimum recommended RAM?

It would be worth testing if you directed the sound to go direct to your laptop speaker via your onboard sound and see if you can hear the scrubbing which is metering. However I would have expected the sound via the Decklink to have worked. If it works, or either way, it would be worth reporting to Blackmagic as it helps them to debug the enormous variety of hardware and OS combos.

It’s not a laptop, it’s an I-Mac. And, yes, I know I could use more RAM, bit I wouldn’t think that a lack of RAM would cause it to simply mute during scrubbing.

Sorry. I-Mac. I moved on from Apple products 11 years ago so I don’t keep pace with their I or i form factors.

It’s hard to know what consequences having hardware that is either below or just on minimum spec will do with any software. I’m not sure Pr would be any less likely to throw up random bugs. By all accounts Resolve is a much better performer on underpowered machines.
