On Avid 2020.12.0
I beach ball every time I create, open and close a bin or move its location in my project panel. I cleaned out my attic, waveform cache, search db to no affect. Creating a new project and migrating the bins fixes it, but only for a few days. I’ve done disk speed tests on my system and the external RAID I’m working from, and everything checked out. All other functions – such as opening and closing the project, editing small sequences, project saves, doing titles – are nice and snappy.
What are some of the things that could cause this slowdown? Is there a pathway or setting that’s taxing my bin writing? My project is only 110mb since I’ve just started, but I have A LOT of bins (967, and my attic size is 100mb). I would prefer not to rebuild my project every week for the next 4 months I’m on this project.
My computer is Catalina 10.15.5 2019 iMac (3.6 ghz 8-core i9, 40gb RAM, Radeon Pro 580 X 8gb gfx card). Not working on a shared server, just on a single external RAID (thunderbolt 3).

Clearing bin memory has helped the beach ball time, but I’m still beach balling.

I would tray another drive. Maybe an external SSD for testing.
