guess I’m a classic, working with (tube)monitors
but also for interlace problems that I wouldn’t see on a computermonitor
At least here in Europe, people talk good about FCP(6) colorcorrector and Apple color
as good tools for their purpose… -
once you have the surface (fractal noise can do something similar)
“cc light rays” do what the name suggests (and it’s fast) -
wow, that’s good “alt-apple-b” in my case
I always navigate to layer in point “i” start workarea “b”
goto outpoint “o” end of workarea “n” menu “trim comp to workarea”
but yours is faster! -
I normally have it follow a light (pointlight renamed as emitterX)
and in particular say the emitter is the light.
It creates nice round curves following the exact path you program for the light… -
To my knowledge, FCP is better and more acurate and faster in color correction
and having the system set up with YUV output to a calibrated monitor
I suggest it’s the best way (if your only talking about color) -
Don’t worry about the squeezing,
the actual output file will be like that.
(but with a message to the reproducer to strech it out again)
You’ll get used to watch squeezed images if you want to look at the quality
and to watch poor quality when your working on the compositing -

And ‘purge all’ before render (edit menu)
and if it’s a long render you might like to purge memory every xx frames
(secret settings in preferences, shift click preferences)
