How are the results after rendering?
Could be just a preview issue…
Preview is full? without aspect ratio correction?

Either you have a 1-frame range selected, or your computer is out of RAM
So be sure it’s a normal sized comp (if not precomp it to a normal size comp)
    Purge all cashes and go

A, another one having these problems!
I’ve been posting about this some time ago, and noone seems to know
neither the problem, nor it’s solution
    And it’s easy to get into these problems;
Just constructing a cube with some solid layers, a light and a camera
when turning the cube or fly around with the camera, shadow-artifacts appear.
I came to the conclusion it’s an aftereffects-bug, and my workaround until further notice
is cinema 4d for these kinds of compositions

To do this you need to install renderengine (same installdisc) on the big one
start it up and give it the direction where to look for a ‘watch-folder’
(could be the harddisc of your laptop, or its proper harddisc)
then when you have a project to render, set it up with the comp to be rendered in the renderqueue, then ‘collect-files’ with the ‘enable watch-folder’ – button pressed and collect it to the same place you’ve told the other machine to watch for watch-folders.
When it sees a collected files folder with something in the renderqueue, it will just start rendering.
One thing… you should have the used plugins, quicktime format plugins and fonts installed in both machines.

You can use the text animator to put the position, a bit of scale and 0 tracking to the mouth of the bottle, the liquid feel is achievable with displacement maps.

May 5, 2008 at 2:39 pm in reply to: MPEG Problem?

When clients come to me with .mpg, I usualy open them in quicktime player (mac) and export them to any other format, although aftereffects do import them but on previewing mixes all the frames up.
Do you have a program that opens the .mpg and is able to export to other formats?
If not, maybe QTPro is worth buying…

  • Don’t want problems? Get a mac
I’m sorry, but with after and quicktime I wouldn’t want any PC
(but this could be just a personal and outdated opinion)

Looks a bit like ‘trapcode’s starglow’ with ‘warm star’ preset. Just guessing
With ordinary ‘glow’ can get a similar feel…

I would go for apples intermediate codec.
It rewrites the file in seperate frames instead
of referring, like in mpeg2. and it helps a lot
to not have the artifacts your saying.
I’m not sure if you´ll have to recapture
I’d suggest you do a test of a small clip, traduced to intermediate
    or captured directly in intermediate

Scaling down to the actual needed size often helps a lot,
Lots think; the higher the resolution of my scan, the better… Wrong

The closest the resolution of the scan to the actual screen resolution the better.
