And if you do bring it in by mistake a simple alt/option click on the track and delete will take care of it.

Make one folder called SFX and then import all your subfolders to it. Do ’em all at once.

You can mark in and outs on your timeline to mark a specific area, and then jump to the in and out using Q and W respectively. The cool thing about the render bar is how easy it is to set. Double click in the light grey strip where the bar is and it will automatically mark the section that’s filling the window or if the entire timeline is visible it will mark your entire piece and it’s ready to render. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve double clicked and it put an end point way out past the end of my timeline because I had left a stray bit of audio or a few seconds of graphic hanging out there.

A couple of weeks ago I was cutting a piece with all 1080/29.97 footage from my Canon XF100 and I had complete program crash. Wasn’t doing anything too intense, just roughing in footage and some photoshop (single layer) titles. Relaunched and reopened the project and it just looked funny. Well, it had changed to 720p/25 and there was no options for changing it back.

Had to rebuild. No biggie as I was only a couple of clips into it. Haven’t had it happen again, but stuff like that just screams “beta”.

Can you see the waveforms? If so, load a clip in the timeline and send the audio off to Audition (render and replace operation) and see if you can hear it there. That’s where I’d start.

Use the Canon XF 720p60 preset to get you going. Can you see the files in Media Browser? Did you copy the entire card structure or did you just move some files? Not usually an issue in Adobe but copying the whole card structure to your media drive and letting Media Browser handle the importing can clear up most import snafus.

Use “Save a copy” instead. Guaranteed just a copy of your project as it exists. Just that data.

Set the work area, queue it up in AME. Set the work area, queue it up in AME. Set the work area, queue it up in AME.

Export ’em all at one time.

I use markers for just this reason all the time. Use ’em however you want.

Wow! I run that same set-up though with the XF100. Never had a sync problem. I almost always shoot 1080/60i/35mbps. Edit with CS5.5 (and sometimes FCPX) on a i7 quadcore macbook. Simple firewire 800 drive.

How long into a clip before you see the sync’s gone bad?
