Have you used the easy setups we provide in FCP?

Make sure you create a new sequence as easy setups do not affect existing ones.

Hi,

I think you’re only limited to DV or HDV (using Apple Intermediate Codec) clips in iMovie. It also does not support capture using 3rd party hardware. But why use iMovie when you have FCP?

When you say “trashed all prefs”, does it include the following files?

com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist
Final Cut Pro Obj Cache
Final Cut Pro 5 Prefs
Final Cut Pro Prof Cache

Create another user account with admin rights. See if the same thing is happening there.

Hi,

Capturing using Final Cut Pro? Are you using the provided NTSC easy setups? For example, “Blackmagic NTSC – 10 bit” that’s located in Final Cut Pro > Easy setup?

Hi Bill,

Use the 50i settings in Final Cut Pro. if you’re working with progressive video, turn off the field dominance setting in Sequence settings.

Hi

Begin a new 1920 x 1080 HD project and select the HDV device from the settings tab in the capture window.
HDV material will then scale and playback in realtime on an uncompressed timeline.

Yes, I can see why this is confusing. We’ll get this one clarified.

The Apple 4:2:2 Uncompressed codec is Universal Binary and you should be able to open your Blackmagic encoded clips with Quicktime if you have the Apple codecs installed.

Hi Ian,

If you’re using a Kona SD , DO NOT upgrade to 5.6.2. Embarrassing enough, support for Kona SD was left out. This is an oversight which we will address in a driver update. You need to use the v5.6 drivers which you can find here:
