    Hi Jeremy,

The next time you lose SPDIF output, try jiggling the breakout cable on the back of the card and see if it makes a difference.

It could be a bad converter or a bad DeckLink card. We’ll be happy to swap it out for you if we can verify this.

August 2, 2006 at 6:11 am in reply to: HDLink Problem

    Hi Trent,

What version of drivers are you running? Have you tried upgrading to the latest and letting the HDLink Utility flash your unit’s firmware?

What is the source of the SDI video connected to the HDLink? The light 4:2:2 light goes off when it does not detect a valid signal. When this happens, it doesn’t output DVI-D and your 23″ display shuts off. It’s possible that the HDLink is faulty when this is happening but also possible that your SDI source is failing so please verify the condition of your SDI signal if possible.

    August 2, 2006 at 6:07 am in reply to: Does Blackmagic capture 1080 25p or 1080 25psf?

    Hi Marcus,

We use 25PsF and capture to the Uncompressed FCP 10-bit codec.

You’ll use the 1080i50 setup in Final Cut Pro that we provide, but set the field dominance to NONE in the sequence settings.

[David Roth Weiss] “Just like you to be on the job 24/7 even on Sunday…”

It’s already Monday here in Australia. 🙂

[David Roth Weiss] “I’m running the BM 5.6 drivers. I just saw that there are new 5.6.2 drivers available. Should I try installing them?”

    yes, please do.

[David Roth Weiss] “If I can figure out how to do that I’ll send it right away for you guys to evaluate.”

Use the application called Console which is located in Applications > Utilities. Click on the Logs icon in the top corner of the window, and search through the left panel, especially in ~/Library/Logs > Crash Reporter. See if there are any entries for FCP.
