    Hi Josh,

Cache corruption sometimes occurs due to some settings with other “render time” values. You could change the SDS subdivision value and then notice the difference, or try replacing the Voronoi Fracture with a cloner and then redo the caching, I hope this helps you.

    Hi Eric,

It may be necessary to record the screen or share the file if possible, I don’t know the method you used to make the rope tear, whether by applying tension from both sides or by dropping something on the rope, I have attached below a tutorial on how to do this by dropping another object and then hiding it, I hope this helps you.

  • You are absolutely right about Vertex Maps, however there are tutorials of other methods that seem more flexible.

  • Hi Eric,

This is a new particle system that appeared with the 2024 release, but the information about it seems scarce, I did not find tutorials about it on Maxon channels, although there is tutorials about doing the same thing in other ways, such as the Vertex Maps, this may be evidence that this tool has not yet stabilized and that it still needs development or something like that, however, there are ways to do the same thing and they work on different versions, I have attached a file for one of the methods, I hope it fulfills the purpose you are looking for.

  • There might be an update related to this, we could check through Maxon’s website because they publish with each update a list about issues touched by the update. The good thing is that we now know that this can be done on different versions with the frequency between Uniform and Adaptive.

    Thanks!

December 5, 2024 at 9:38 am in reply to: unroll a cylinder to flat plane

    Hi Hans,

If you want to do this for example to texture the model you could unwrap the model in the UVEdit but I think you want to convert the vase to a flat plane in an animation, if you just want to flatten the vase you could use the Flatten tool I have put a screen recording below for how to do this, but if you want to unroll the model as it happens in UVEdit then I suggest you simulate the unwrap model that you get it in UVEdit then fold it using Bend to start the animation from flat to curved then you could reverse it.

I hope this is helpful for you.

December 3, 2024 at 10:31 am in reply to: Blender product visualization

    Hi Mads!

Thank you for enriching the discussion, I agree with you that the Blender community is gradually surpassing the Cinema 4D community in terms of the diversity of resources, especially since most of them are free, which has helped facilitate many tasks that are relatively more difficult to accomplish in Blender compared to Cinema 4D. Also, regarding your talk about Unreal and Unity, I don’t think you will be surprised if you know that when I stated at the end of the post that it is possible to prefer another program other than Blender and Cinema 4D, I only meant Unreal and Unity and nothing else. As for the last point, I don’t think that replacing us as designers with AI will be in the near future, in fact, I doubt that it will be possible at all one day, but explaining the arguments for this statement may require a long discussion.

    Thanks!

Comparing Blender and Cinema 4D has raised a lot of discussion in forums and on social media, and to reach a suitable decision, we should not limit the comparison to one aspect between two complex programs designed to accomplish multiple tasks related to graphic design. Therefore, the two programs must be compared in each aspect separately then we look at the aspects related to our work field to reach a decision. Many people start by saying that Blender is completely free, but is this related to the basis of the topic, which is the artistic value of the results you get from using one of the programs and thus the income you will earn? The answer is no, rather this is related to an economic factor, to the person’s financial capabilities. As for the other aspects like Modeling, Motion Graphics, interfaces, and ease of learning, especially for beginners, even fair-minded from Blender users admit that Cinema 4D is still superior, but the Blender team is making efforts that have succeeded in greatly reducing the difference. As for cartoons and 2D animation, Blender is better. In conclusion, if the financial factor is an obstacle between you and choosing Cinema 4D, you should use Blender and be patient about the difficulty of learning the program and the difficulty accomplishing some tasks, especially motion graphics, otherwise if you have the cash, choosing Cinema 4D will be the best, and after you reach professionalism or become a specialist in one of the branches of graphic design, you could reconsider your choice and choosing the appropriate program for you, and it may be even another program rather then Cinema and Blender.

I hope this is useful to you.

    Hi James,

I disabled the self collisions and used another flat cylinder to keep the fragments from falling and softened the impact so it looks like the plant is pushing the soil particles as in the video recording below, by making the particles smaller and slowing down the movement you can get a more realistic effect, I hope this is what you are looking for.

November 21, 2024 at 11:09 am in reply to: Area lights – 1000 samples still not enough?

Thanks for the clarification! There are two things: the first is that Render settings have a big role in improving the light casting, adding effects like Color Correction, Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion has a big impact on that, and the other thing is that using a luminous material and applying it to the shape you want to make it as a light source gives you better results, especially in casting light onto another surface. I tried to explain all of that in a screen recording, let me know if it works for you.
