So are you saying your settings go away between sessions? If so, somethings wrong. I’ve never used Newscutter, but there is no reason in the world either your Newscutter or your XPress should be losing settings. I keep a copy of my settings on a thumb drive (both Mac and PC versions) so if something does get corrupted, I can recreate my settings with a minimum of hassle.

I second the Outlook. We use it exclusively to schedule jobs and edits. We’ve got a shared calender, and as jobs come in, I schedule it and ‘invite’ (an outlook eupemism) the folks I need to get the job done. I sure you could develop a form within Outlook, based on an excell spreadsheet, attach it to the job and have the editor fill it out and send it back… I just can’t see spending the tens of thousands of dollars to get SchedualAll. I did see a software package at NAB 06 that was based on Mac – I don’t remember the name, but it was more reasonable than ScheduAll…

I’m not sure if grouping your clips will help you – If you are going to use multicam it might be ideal…
Have you tried modifying your clips? You could probably modify the audio to match the video timecode. Keep in mind you’ll get migranes trying to redigitize….

Does an Avid QT not work in FCP? The QT file will be huge, but taking into account you’d like a ‘quick’ solution, QT seems to be the best solution. As a reference, we routinely export an hour of DV quality video to QT and get 12 to 14 gig files. An hour of 16:9 video is larger (about 45gb), but definitely doable. Just make sure you have all the right buttons checked in your export settings.

Quicktime? If you are on the same machine, you could use QT Reference….

You’ll need professional to avoid headaches. Using XP home has caused all sorts of problems with the Avid software.

Also, a quick way of finding corrupted files is to go into your media drives via the finder/desktop, and sort the files by name. Isolate the files with a ‘+’ at the beginning. I usually drag them outside the omf folder, keeping it on the drive. You can scroll through your timeline and see whats offline.

You should have gotten Sorenson Squeeze with your Avid software. I’d suggest exporting your sequence at full resolution out of the Avid (using QT reference if you will be doing your encoding on the same machine). Then, use Squeeze to get to your desired format. My geuss is you’ll be able to match the original clips file format and quality.

How do you know its a bus conflict? Is that the error you are getting? When does the audio underrun error come in? You say you are on a G5, but you are using FW400 – do you have a faster FW port? My guess is your drives aren’t fast enough to keep up with the data rate required for your resolution.
