“End of file reached
” I have this message pop up at the moment my sequence is playing and the timeline stops.
..using Avid Express Pro HD on a pc – all working great till now:
3.2Gig processor, 2 gigs ram, new sata drives, nvidia graphics
soundblaster audio…but this is the first weirdness in over a year of operation!!!When I turn off all video tracks, the problem does not appear. Getting rid of the clip at the point where things stop doesn’t keep the timeline from freezing.
Googling the problem led to several comments regarding corrupted clips, (and removing pre-computes which I have removed with the Media Tool); but the problem persists.
Avid mentions the problem with corrupted clips very briefly, but how do you find corrupted clips? One at a time, remove then check; doesn’t seem to work.
Hoping there is an Avid Genie out there somewhere.

Do a conquer and divide approach. Cut the timeline in half, then play, then again, and play till you find the piece or pieces that are corrupted. From there, do a “find clip” and recapture.

Also, a quick way of finding corrupted files is to go into your media drives via the finder/desktop, and sort the files by name. Isolate the files with a ‘+’ at the beginning. I usually drag them outside the omf folder, keeping it on the drive. You can scroll through your timeline and see whats offline.

Does this happen in a specific area of the timeline, or does the sequence not play at all?
When this has happened to me, I just made a video mixdown of the problem segment and replaced the video with it. Sometimes you don’t have the time to debug it.
