June 8, 2007 at 1:01 pmIt goes from the big dry erase board on the wall to scheduAll, really.
As a one man band, I just use a lil schedule book but any multi-suite post house needs scheduAll, imo.

June 8, 2007 at 1:05 pmWe have had very good luck in the past using Microsoft Outlook as our scheduling tool. While it won’t generate billing, it neatly handled booking rooms, studios, personnel assignments, locations, etc.. Unfortunately the company that bought us went to Lotus Notes, in which it is barely possible to get email on a timely basis.
They’ve realized their error and we’re going back to Outlook after 4 years of booking turmoil.

June 9, 2007 at 2:08 pmI second the Outlook. We use it exclusively to schedule jobs and edits. We’ve got a shared calender, and as jobs come in, I schedule it and ‘invite’ (an outlook eupemism) the folks I need to get the job done. I sure you could develop a form within Outlook, based on an excell spreadsheet, attach it to the job and have the editor fill it out and send it back… I just can’t see spending the tens of thousands of dollars to get SchedualAll. I did see a software package at NAB 06 that was based on Mac – I don’t remember the name, but it was more reasonable than ScheduAll…

June 13, 2007 at 1:08 pmYou could try Zytech. It does everthing you asked for and more, but it might be too expensive. Worth checking out.
