Another thing to check is your drive compatibility – are your drives spinning fast enough? Unless your drive are going 10k rpm, it probably can’t keep up with the data thrown at it.

And I remember when streaming data at 33 1/3 rpm was cool… Of course you had to have a penny on the drive head to make it work, but I digress…

You’ve got media data very close together on the same area of your drive. The drive head can’t access the data quick enough.

Try an audio mixdown. That should do the trick.

You don’t say what system / version you are using. I’ve had problems in the past with lower audio levels in the past. I’ve solved that by adding a ‘normalize’ filter in Sorenson. If you create a new filter, you can check the ‘normalize’ box. I don’t remember if you have control over the level, but if you do, make sure its -1 db.

I’m not in front of an Avid, but I believe if your turn on ‘auto-patch’ (timeline settings, maybe?), it will automatically patch the source tracks to the active record track. Just make sure you only have on record track active. I use this in conjuction with the V1/2 keys already mapped.

I don’t think there is a mute or lock tracks function in either the menu or the command pallette. If its not there, you can’t map it – unless someone knows different.

If your source is true 16:9, and your product is going to tape, AND your customer uses 4:3, you can put a reformat FX (found in the effects pallette under reformat) on a top layer of your sequence (I’d duplicate the sequence first and work off the copy).

If you are delivering via MPEG, and your customer uses 16:9, make sure you check your export options and the 16:9 button is checked. I use Sorenson, and you can tell it to keep it in 16:9 (a .wmv will play a 16:9 video just fine). You’ll probably need to do a video mixdown to get the sequence to export.

Bottom line – if your 16:9 sequence is going to 4:3, put a reformat on it.

Buy a system from a reseller.

Keep in mind when Avid specifies a specific OS version, stick to that version. It will save you many headaches, even if you have to step back.

Is this an SDI Mojo or component mojo? If its a component model, you’ll need an Avid supplied component to S-Video cable. You should be able to order one for Avid or a reseller. If your mojo is SDI, you’ll need an RGB to SDI converter. Aja makes a good one, as does Miranda.
