Colorado Springs has a fairly inexpensive surge protection insurance through the utility company. We take many summer lightning strikes here, so it’s good to get. I believe they also will put a surge protector outside the house. Outside of individual surge protectors, that seems to be the cheapest. I’m sure St. Louis has the same thing for those big thunder boomers you guys get brewing off the mighty Mississippi…

Now you’ve made me anxious for football season. ‘Dadgum’ is Fisher DeBerry’s favorite saying… Really, it is.

I still like my stick figures done in graphite. I give them to clients at the end of the show. “I didn’t know a 2-year-old could produce a video like that”….

The commander says “Use this music for my promo video”
    I says “It’s copyrighted”
She says “I’ll handle it – Only a select few will see it”
“OK”, says I, and I go do what I’m told, with much reservation.

It’s now on the intraweb, shown to VIP’s at briefings….

    Be careful and good luck.

I don’t know much about the J decks other than one of the models is not frame accurate (I believe it’s the bottom-level model). Meaning, you can’t do frame accurate digi cuts. It’s meant to be a feeder deck. Using firewire automatically says DV25 (I could be wrong). Unless you are hooked up via Avid’s magic component cable, I don’t think you’ll get full rez…

    Two layers.
    Box on the bottom.
    Name on top.
    Slide in the box.
    Ramp up the name.

    BAM!

    1. Go to a reseller
    2. Buy an Avid to your specs (within the limits of a ‘legal’ machine)
    3. Remind yourself the extra money you are spending up front is money you won’t nickel and dime yourself later
    4. Have a frosty mug and edit on your zippy machine that works.
