    Hi

I have just created two clips from a sequence for putting on a website 334 x 187. These are to go with one that is already there.

The existing clip is a Flash movie made from an Mpeg 2 file. My version of Avid will not create Mpeg 2, only Mpeg 4. So I created a Quicktime Movie in medium resolution.

My clips are more pixelated than the existing when made in to a Flash movie (although they are both brighter which accentuates the pixelation). I have also suplied a high resolution file to see if that helps

It seems that the only difference in the two files (QT and Mpeg) are that the QT has thousands of colours but the Mpeg has millions. I can not see a way of increasing the colours and I am not convinced this is the reason. Is it?

My file has a data rate of 315 Kb and the Mpeg is only 31 Kb.

I am sending this over the internet, so file size is an issue. ven though my current file size when zipped is 16Mb

Does anyone have an answer to why my clips are poorer quality and how I can resolve this

    Thank you

You should have gotten Sorenson Squeeze with your Avid software. I’d suggest exporting your sequence at full resolution out of the Avid (using QT reference if you will be doing your encoding on the same machine). Then, use Squeeze to get to your desired format. My geuss is you’ll be able to match the original clips file format and quality.
