A quick way to make sure youre in 48k is to open your audio project settings in the settings tab. It will show you what your settings are.

Outputting to 1:1 is essentially the same. You will, as you indicated, need more storage. A general rule of thumb I seem to remember is 1 minute = 1 gb. You won’t be able to adjust the video output as SDI is essentially ones and zeros.
I’m curious – what’s your source footage? I’m sure you realize that if its DV, bringing your footage via firewire is the best you can do. Redigitizing at 1:1 is a waste of time.

I’m not sure about getting a project into FCP. There have been a lot of great answers to that question over on the Avid forum.
When you put the installation CD/DVD in, does the EDL manager software show up as a .sit file, or a .exe file? That should tell you pretty clearly wether you have a Mac or PC file.

Use audio suite and the time compression / expansion plug in. Or, use something like Sound Forge (personal favorite) to do the audio portion….

Posting your system specs would go a long way towards identifying your problem. Things like video card, OS, Avid version, RAM…

…and whats your video card/CPU/memory/OS? Sounds also like a redraw issue. Any chance you are using an ati video card?

I’m not sure I follow – the timeline window is over your source monitor? Is it an issue of dragging your window out of the way, or am I missing something?

Can you post info on your system (memory, OS, CPU, video card) as well as Avid version. You might want to post your Quicktime version as well.

Its still a widely accepted format – even though Sony stopped manufacturing BetaSP decks (I think all of the new J decks support SP, though).
The point, I would think, is making a master on whatever format your outlet asks for.
