I’m not in front of an Avid, but there is a setting – I think it’s in the ‘timeline’ settings, or maybe the digitize settings.
If you have multiple users, you can even create site settings – meaning every time a different user logs on, you can make sure they are editing DF, etc. I don’t remember the specific way to do it, but if you search on site settings in the help menu, it will tell you how to do it.

It has to do with refresh rates and how hard the video card is working to display full motion video.
Thats as technical as I get….

Sounds like you have a window touching your edit monitor. Its especially difficult to see when you have a dual monitor setup. Make sure you have no windows touching the edit / source monitors.

No hotkey that I know of. I keep one hand on the mouse, and the other on the I/O keys. Once you get into a rhythm, its not to bad.

Any chance you have render on the fly turned off? (its in the clip menu).

Can you save it as a .png? You’ll get all the layers and an alpha. I’ve had really good luck on the MCs…

The only thing I could suggest is making sure you import settings are 1:1, 601. If you bring them in at RGB levels, you’ll definitely notice a difference. I would also suggest that looking at the files between the QT player and the Avid is not the way to do it – especially if you don’t have your overlay controls set properly.

Sometimes Avids play nice with a new version of QT, then for no reason, get tired of playing nice. Try reverting to the qualified version of QT.
Something else to try is trashing you MCState file.

In the export settings, if you have ‘use enbled video tracks’ and ‘Use in to out’ checked, make sure you acutally have all your tracks selected, and an in to out. For simplicity, I uncheck those boxes.
If that fails, try doing a mixdown.

Ouch…
I had a dongle fry in the USB port. Luckily, I have support and they sent me a new one in several days.
