I’m getting ready to output a 23 minute trailer plus additional footage (selects) to tape at 1:1.

I’m using Avid Express Pro. Since Express doesn’t have SDI output, I’ll have to create a new project on another machine (i.e., our Avid), re-digitize the footage and do the outputting from there.

We’ve been capturing footage at the DV25411OMF setting.

Presently, I’m trying to figure out how much drive space I’ll need for the re-digitizing.

Apart from that, one question is in the back of my mind:

Is there anything tricky, i.e., anything I should know about doing an SDI output? Also, does anyone have a link to any nifty articles about outputting at 1:1?

    Thanks.

Outputting to 1:1 is essentially the same. You will, as you indicated, need more storage. A general rule of thumb I seem to remember is 1 minute = 1 gb. You won’t be able to adjust the video output as SDI is essentially ones and zeros.

I’m curious – what’s your source footage? I’m sure you realize that if its DV, bringing your footage via firewire is the best you can do. Redigitizing at 1:1 is a waste of time.
