Don’t see the option at all, or is it greyed out? (and you have turned on the “Open” option in the canvas or viewer?

You can place the DV sequence in an uncompressed 8 bit sequence, and render it all… Just create a new sequence which is Apple’s uncompressed 8 bit.

sounds like you need to make the LiveType project file’s the same fps as your sequence settings… might be a descripancy in frame rate?

Sounds like a corrupted install of Quicktime or something… this isn’t normal at all. How did you perform the upgrade to Tiger? If it wasn’t an erase and install, then a total reinstall of FCP and upgrades, then I suspect your install isn’t up to snuff and is causing a wierd thing to happen when it shouldn’t…
Post more too about your system. Is there a capture card involved? or is it just DV or?

Don’t think so, you could try it in your case, but I don’t see any wavy particles during any length of a fade to black, so not sure what your problem really is stemming from. I don’t think it’s FCP per se… more likely something about the files that aren’t to spec or something… this was DVCAM material captured via FW using the standare DV preset, or?

Try opening the project again, and turn ON the delete render files. FCP 4.5 used the “fast” setting (lowest quality) new to FCP 5 is the normal setting (better than before) but you should trash the older renders and re render. Then there’s highest qualtiy, which again you should trash the old renders (there’s a checkbox in the bottom of that window to turn on for this during the update procedure). Each of the two higher quality render settings will take more time (more computations for better quality). Otherwise, if you set it to fastest, then don’t delete older renders, it should open with the old renders intact. BUT you probably have already trashed these old renders the first time you opened the file. but it might be worth the try to make sure that the delete render files option IS turned on, that way the system thinks that the sequences need to be re rendered and will do so. It sort of sounds like, it thinks those old render files are still there, when they really aren’t.

You can select any number of subclips and reconnect them all at one time…

It is a hardware issue. Cinewave could do it by offloading the conversion in RT to the card itself, the CPU’s arent’ fast enough yet don’t think… maybe a G6 quad pentium? dunno…
I think that future superfast CPU’s will be able to do it, but no doubt what you’d monitor is whatever the sequence setting is… so it would be upconverting or down converting in RT to the setting that the sequence is… just like CineWave systems do…
