I’ll wager you need the SDI board, but you might ask Rudy in AJA support about an alternative if they have one… email support@aja.com, Rudy or one of his excellent support folks will get back promptly I’ll wager.

Well, I can say that Compressor was completely redone for FCP 5, so without really ever testing it here, can’t say that it would be a lot better… I’d think that FCP 5 though, running in tiger brings a lot of other benefits, multicam, better quality renders etc…

Sounds like you changed the size of the file in CT… note that it’s exactly half the size of the original…

Certainly possible, but a Huge 320 array would still be much faster than any FW 800 solution… Also Huge just started shipping SUPER SPEED arrays.. the 4 gig fibre channel arrays are EXTREMELY fast… like 500 mb/sec… might be worth the extra money to get them now and ensure that you can work in HD down the line with the speeds fast enough for several streams of uncompressed HD…

Should be able to copy any file to your user’s shared folder then access that from the new user folder. But if you put and plugins in the System library, then any user would see them when he/she opens FCP. Your user settings (prefs for example) have to be transferred as I earlier descibed… (You could also just put them on a CD or flash drive and transfer that way too…

I’ll bet it doesn’t work and you’ll have to re subclip the new clips… BUT it’s certainly worth a try to reconnect the old subclips… if you name the new master clip the same, and it is exactly the same frame rate and is assigned the exact same timecode, it might work trying to reconnect all the old subclips to the new file… try one and see?

I think the Sony should be workable, but the JVD not… should be able to capture HDV natively or using the intermediate codec with the sony camera. I believe the JVC camera uses a short GOP format and FCP wont’ work with it directly. Takes a plugin from Lumiere… https://www.lumierehd.com/

Well a second monitor would at least allow you to move the window back to the main screen… from then on it should open there I’d think.

Have you tried trashing your preference file for FCP? Not sure it will work but won’t hurt, might put it to the side so you can bring it back if you have a lot of prefs changed.

I don’t quite understand what you are trying to do… if you’d explain it better? or maybe even give the reason for this?
