The larger you make the mpegs the better they look… MPEG-4 files might result in smaller files than MPEG-1 files would… What is the delivery? PC playback or?

Optical Flow does do frame interpolation… quite remarkable actually.

Boris’ plugin would be acessed directly from the video filters… I don’t think it’s particularly slow… i.e. it becomes part of FCP sort of..

Yes, with plugins. Look at Boris Continuum, and the optical flow filter https://borisfx.com/.
Also can take a look at twixtor.https://www.revisionfx.com/rstwixtor.htm
There is a method that you can do this in Compressor actually… search this forum for the thread on it.

Just put the tiffs in your sequence, forget the movie version of the material. Then choose the highest quality preset your system’s disk drives and/or capture card can handle. How do you intend to deliver the material?

Probably should look at a CRT if you ask me, but if that’s out of the budget, look at the pro HD monitors from Sony, JVC, and Panasonic… I’m not using anything but CRT’s so can’t attest to lag with the new LCD HD Pro monitors, anyone?

Then I’m afraid you’ll wait forever… In fact you’d do yourself a favor by running FCP HD instead of 4.1.. there were about 150 bugs in the software you are running right NOW fixed by FCP 4.5… Software is a never ending evolving thing… FCP 4.5 running in Panther is a very stable and pretty much bug free setup. However it still has some bugs… not bad ones though.
FCP 5.0.2 running on a completely clean install of 10.4.2 is also extremely stable. Renders better, and has features which FCP HD just doesn’t have. Don’t forget that forums like this one are full of people with problems, not people with successes. There are over a million FCP users out there, and most are running systems which work for them just fine. I’ve been running without a hitch all summer long on the Tiger/FCP 5 system described here…
No software is without bugs, it’s just the nature of the beast.

Are you sure the telecine logs are correct? the issue could be there possibly?
