Yes, please post the results since I have Studio 2 sitting in a box in my edit suite waiting to be installed and an IO-LA in the rack!

3000K can be handy if you are using the actual monitor within a shot, as a prop or an over the shoulder source on a news set, while shooting in a studio situation. The other settings will result in an overly blue image if shot with a camera that is setup for 3200K white balance. I don’t know if this is the actual use for which the 3000K setting was designed…but it works for a studio setup.

I use a Quad 2.5G5, Kona 3 and a pair of Huge raids to edit HDCam at 10 bit uncompressed, although I usually convert to DVCProHD. I bring the footage in HDSDI from the deck thru the Kona 3. It’s pretty straightforward and I’ve had no problems at all. It works.

I getting ready to upgrade soon (I already have the software) and I usually edit my footage at DV50. I have a lot of archival clips that I need to pull up for spots. It would not be good if DV50 is broken. Not good at all.
I think I’ll be watching this thread closely.

I’m just getting ready to install FCS 2. I have version 2.5.1 of your filters. Is 2.5.2 for FCP6 or have you even officially releases it yet. Will 2.5.1 behave OK with FCP 6? Just wondering before jumping into the wonderful world of Final Cut upgrades this weekend.

I feel that I should point out here that in many of today’s “High End” car spots the cars are actually computer generated. They are amazingly realistic but don’t really exist in real life. It’s easy to hit the mark when everything is programmed out. It’s tricky to make them look so realistic however.

Depending on what camcorder was used to record the field tapes, you could be seeing the horizontal blanking from the camera itself. Some cameras actually “crop” the image slightly (usually analog cameras) resulting in those thin black bars on both sides of the screen. I know that when I capture footage from BetaSP tapes the blanking will usually show. Whenever I capture from tapes recorded on one of our Digibeta camcorders the blanking edges will not show. Although a DV50 camcorder should be digital throughout, the camera might be set for narrow blanking. I’m guessing that’s what you might be seeing.
