Rendering Audio
Posted by Paul Dzurec on June 21, 2007 at 12:03 pmI work on a computer that is shared with one other user from time to time. Usually I can hit apple+R and it will render the audio, so it doesn’t beep, after the second user finished recently, it won’t do that any more. It’s a simple fix I’m sure.

June 22, 2007 at 3:16 amMight want to also increase your real time audio tracks in the user prefs. I can’t remember the last time I heard audio beeps. I keep mine set to 14 or so.

June 22, 2007 at 4:19 pmWell, no. FCP has no problem playing back multiple audio rates on the fly. It does of course eat up some rt. When you first place a non 48k audio item in the timeline, simply do an item level audio render on it. It will up rez it right there in the timeline and you can move it, change levels, add filters, whatever, and it will still access the up rezzed file. Very handy. They added this in version 4. Makes it a lot easier to keep up with audio for redig since it always links to the single original audio track.
Example use would be CDs. To import and use a CD track since version 4 of fcp – simply drag track from CD onto your hard drive. Drag from there into fcp. Do an item level render. Or don’t, actually because you need to do an audio mixdown before output, which renders everything into a single audio file anyway.
