Two streams of uncompressed HD is all you get. Who told you otherwise?

If you have a clip loaded on the source side it will keeps the tracks active on the right. Clear the source side before you delete your tracks and you will get what you want.

If you don’t want to “go into the omfi folders” you can consolidate the clips. Connect your drive to his computer. Copy all the new clips into a new bin. Select them and consolidate to your drive. Now copy that new clips folder into your project andd you are set.

Are they importing at Meridien 2:1? If the codecs don’t match exactly, you will get a slowdown as Avid has to conform the movie. Also, make sure that their settings (601 vs. RGB, 601 aspect vs, resize) are the same.
Are they importing of a DVD or a hard drive?

look at the numerical adjustment section of your CC effect. You will find a slider for low mid and high range adjustments. Not very precise but you can punch in numbers to fine tune if needed.
The real key to making this go faster is to turn on the “load” function in your timeline monitor window. This is available under the center pulldown menu at the top of the window.
This will cause whatever shot you park on in the timeline to automatically load in your viewer. This makes scrolling through and adjusting much easier.

As a Symphony colorist, I can truly appreciate your predicament. Nothing beats the fine control of curves for stretching a precise area in the picture. The closest I’ve come in FCP is to use the two way and drive the mids up while keeping the black down.
You can use the color finesse plugin if you are really in a bind.

Your nVidia card isn’t set up correctly. You need to adjust the overlay settings so that they match the regular level and then they won’t jump when you play and hit stop. I believe you can find the settings in the install notes or the readme. If not, just play around until it works right.

Biggest difference? Increased stability.
Adrenaline is connected via firewire and is beset with lags and crashes due to this weak link.
Symphony has dedicated cards in the compuetr connected to the BOB via a substantial cable.
Second biggest difference? Uncompressed HD! 2 RT streams on Symphony. Adrenaline has NO uncompressed HD.
Third biggest difference? Nonn linear color correction. In other words, you can have your coor corrections automatically apply to all connected clips in the timeline. You choose that connection based on tape name, clip name, or master clip.

hghlight clips.
Right click
Select modify
Scroll down and select source
Now pick the new tape name, or create one.
Step through several dialog boxes warning you that you are about to screw up your keycode, etc.
Then you are done.
