Multicam playback issues
I’m having trouble playing back real time HD quad splits on my Symphony Nitris.
I can playback 4 streams of DNxHD 145 in RT, but anything higher will not play in RT
Ideally, I should be able to play 4 streams of Uncompressed 1080i
I’m on a HPXW8200 (2GBram)

HUH????
Two streams of uncompressed HD is all you get. Who told you otherwise?

It does say four streams – of DNxHD, but no mention of uncompressed multicam. Thanks, TCurren. Time to talk to the Super…

The real question then, would be my multicam workflow.
Can I capture uncompressed, edit my timeline in DNxHD (for multicam functions), then output uncompressed?
What is the conversion/render time while up/down converting (ballpark)?

Haven’t actually converted between DNxHD and uncompressed so I can’t say. What’s wrong wiht the traditional offline / online workflow. 4 tsreams of DNxHD 36 should be easy to handle and it looks really good.

Neither have I! I agree that the offline / online workflow is most likely the best method (also allows for a more critical “upres” capture). Also on this system, DNxHD 145 will playback and edit in multicam line mode, and looks great.
The conversion questions are just part of this Super’s quest for efficiency, I’m sure that I’ll be exploring these options (and more) at length this week.
