So I’ve been editing a feature film on avid, with not all the files captured yet. I have the bins set in the project. My boss is capturing more media files and has them on his main hard drive, while i’m editing what we have on an external on my computer at home. Is there a way for me to put these new files that he’s captured into the previously existing bins that I have without screwing everything up and going into the omfi files folder and looking for them manually?

Copy the mediafiles he captured into your mediafiles folder, open the bin(s) in your project and way you go.

If you don’t want to “go into the omfi folders” you can consolidate the clips. Connect your drive to his computer. Copy all the new clips into a new bin. Select them and consolidate to your drive. Now copy that new clips folder into your project andd you are set.
