I have the opportunity to upgrade to either a Media Composer Adrenaline HD or a Symphony Nitris as our corporate dept moves into the HD realm. What exactly does the Nitris give me over the MC DNAHD for that kind of money? I can’t really determine a big difference from Avid’s vague marketing brochures. My thought was to go with the bigger system as it will need to last well into the next decade. Any thoughts?

    Biggest difference? Increased stability.

Adrenaline is connected via firewire and is beset with lags and crashes due to this weak link.

Symphony has dedicated cards in the compuetr connected to the BOB via a substantial cable.

Second biggest difference? Uncompressed HD! 2 RT streams on Symphony. Adrenaline has NO uncompressed HD.

Third biggest difference? Nonn linear color correction. In other words, you can have your coor corrections automatically apply to all connected clips in the timeline. You choose that connection based on tape name, clip name, or master clip.
