  • capturing with 4 frame offset – possible?

Posted by Justin Tan on May 21, 2007 at 2:09 am

Can anyone help me? I am trying to do a capture (via SDI), but because external processing deck to processor to Avid, I have a 4 frame delay.

I know that in FCP & Smoke, you can set capture offsets, but I can’t seem to find the option in the AVID.

I have an Avid adrenalin HD if it matters.

Beacuse of various reasons, I am un able to edit the TC of the clips.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Look in the deck configuration window.

What are the various reasons you can’t change the TC? Is the Avid not allowing you to? Once you capture a clip, you can change the timecode, but you have to unlink it first, then select the clip–right click, modify, change the offset (it will give you a lot of warnings about how dangerous this is), then relink. It should work.

Sorry should have explained myself more… Reason for not being able to change the TC is more practical than technical. As things are being captured on a daily basis by multiple persons, I wish to avoid the need to change the TC of clips before and after capture. It may be a last resort, but is definately something I wish to avoid.

you can alway lay these clips on their own timeline and deignate that timeline’s tc. You can use these as a source.
