I had the same problem when I tried to upgrade to 5.1.2 eventhough I was the only account and I was the admistrator.

I just reformatted and re-installed on a fresh disk and was fine.

There may be a simpler fix that someone else knows about.

Both of the systems were re-formated when we got our 5.1 crosgrades.
The Aja Drivers are the most cuurrent on thier websight. I believe version 3.
The firmware on the AJA was downgraded to 21-26, becuase when we had the most current version we had machine controll, but no audio or video, so AJA sugested downgrading the firmware.

I get audio and video. It starts digitizing and gets about 30 – 1 min into the clip and then stops and retries after 2 attempts it reports dropped frames.

If I uncheck the box that says “Abort capture on dropped frames” it will capture the whole clip, but after the frames drops the audio will be out of synch.

Both systems and AJA’s have been restarted numerous times.

Everything was working fine with FCP 5.1.1, it wasn’t until we upgraded to 5.1.2 that the problem started happening on the AJA SYSTEMS ONLY.

I thought it was the FCP upgrade, but if so why would it work on the BM and not the AJA’s?

I’m just using it for quick down and dirty approval DVD’s of segments and shows that we put together fr our clients.

Why spend the extra time and steps to do it in DVDSP, when I should be able todo it in I-DVD in half the time.

I may be wrog, but I don’t believe Boris came with FCP until version 4.5 or 5. Jim may be working with an older version he never stated what version of FVP he was using.

If I understand you correctly you want to take the dissolve point on the 10 layers and slide it 2 second to the right for example.

If this is the case first select the roll tool or just hit R to select it.
Then Command click on the dissolve points of all the 10 layers and finally type +200 for (plus 2 seconds) or what evern amount you want to move it..

That should do it.

I had a similar issue. I found that my drives were extremely ful, like 20GB free on a 500GB drive. Once I freed drive space up thimgs ran much better.
What are your drives like? Are you using external firewire drives, internal SATA drives or a SAN ?
How much free space do you have on them?

I have the cables already. I’m just replacing the switch box. So a DB-9 Serial A-B switch box should work?

Thanks guys; I know that mixing PC and Mac is a pain, but somethimes it is needed. (maybe not in this case, but somethimes).
As I said earlier, it seems like a shame to waste the equiptment the was purchase for this (the DV rack, the notbook and the G-Drive 250).

It would also be nice to be able to save the digitizing time from the mini DV, just drag and drop.

Is the drive Mac Fromatted or PC formatted. If it is MAC formatted you can use a program called MAC Drive to make the drive visable and usable on a PC.
