Shift F11 will do a fit to fill.
That sounds like what you are asking for.

I always like to blame stuff like that on a disgruntaled employee that may be messing with you.

What version of FCP are you using?

The reason I ask is that when we upgraded fro 5.1 to 5.1.2 (we have an AJA Io, so it’s a bit different then you’re) I had machine controll, but no audio or video.
I called AJA and tey had me downgrad the frimware for the IO and that seemed to do the trick.

Yeah right or control click on each tab in the timeline and choose close. I don’t think you can do all of them at once.

October 26, 2006 at 7:36 pm in reply to: HELP! Unable to open project.

Yes I did try trashing the pref’s and I actually created a new user/account on the MAC so that had no preferences.

The strange thing is that as mysteriously that this happened, I tried to open the project later in the day and it opened without a problem on every system even ones that I had not trashed the prefs on.

    Go Figure.

    Thanks

October 24, 2006 at 8:38 pm in reply to: Suggestions on partitioning a 12TB SAN???

    Thanks Enge;

This sounds like it may work, but it also sounds like it may be more than we need.

I want to look into Artbox a little furter to see if it fit our needs.
What is the company that makes Artbox? I did a search on google, but to many alternatives came up.

The SAN is 4 3.2 TB Raid 5 Raids and we currently use FibreJet by Command Soft for assigning drives to projects.

The 6 G5 Mac’s that are on the SAN, are not connected to the internet, or our internal network because our COO/CTO is paranoid and afriad of hackers or viruses. I know what you are going to say, but trust me I’ve brought it all up to him before and it’s like beating a dead horse he has his mind set on keeping it isolated.

Please keeping adding suggestions. I need more input before I can come up with a suggestion that will make him happy, make it easy for me to maintain and backup and finally work for us.

    Thanks

October 24, 2006 at 7:31 pm in reply to: Time Code Window

Yes. If you go into Effects and Video Effects (I believe) there are 2 choices 1 Timecode Generator which will bur the timecode of the timeline and the other is Timecode Reader which will read the time code of the origninal clip and burn it in to the video.

If you use Time code reader effect will need to be place on every clip.

October 15, 2006 at 9:44 pm in reply to: FCP use in Video Production Facility

FCP can do anything that Avid can. I have not come across a request from a producer that I could not accomplish in FCP or it’s associated package elements.

Obviously you are asking this question in a Final Cut forum and are going to get positive replies. I bet if you ask the same question in the Avid forum your answers would be much different.

Everyone here has been telling you the truth. Final Cut can do it all. It is not for weddings and home movies anymore.

I work in a medium size facility that produces educational shows and Direct Response infomercial and have never have any problems from the networks that we air out stuff on.
