January 14, 2007 at 3:25 pm in reply to: Basic 3d anchor point?

    This works perfectly.

I have been struggling with this in FCP and decided to do a search on all the forums and found this post.

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the Z Anchor Point so an object will rotate in front or behind the axis point?

    Thanks

That is really stupid. I can’t believe Apple would not make possible.

I know there is a way to make recommendations to Apple for future updates, but I’m not exactly sure how to go about it.

Also I’m guessing that there is no way at all (in the motion tab or anywhere else) to adjust the Z axis, so an object will rotat infront or inback of its center point.

    Thanks for the answers.

I really can’t answer that. We never looked into it that deeply, the editor that was cutting on 4.5 nust wound up redigitizing the clips.

I believe it is a FCP issue.

Maybe I’m not following your issue.

What you are doing is the opposite of the original poster and my situations.

You are logging in 4.5 and editing in 5.1. That should be fine. the problem seems to be capturing in 5 or newer and then taking the media only into 4.5.

FCP is not able to open a newr project on an older system (IE started on 5 or 5.1 and then go to 4.5)

We had a deadline so management suggested that I (FCP 5) digitize the media to save the other editor (FCP 4.5) so time I did and he just omported the media into a ne timeline on 4.5. It turned out not to save any time becuase he had to redigitize.

Going from 4.5 to 5.1 should not have any problems.

    Jeremy;

Some people have to find out for themselves.

All we can do is give them our suggestions, but they are going to do what they want anyway.

I think my post was a little more specific on what type of “Audio Problems” he will run into and the specifics may be what makes him listen to what we both have said.

If I remember correctly I captured in 5 and had another editor edit in 4.5 and there were major audio issues.

4.5 only saw the clips as having 1 channel of audio even though I captured 2 channels on my 5.0 system and when I plugge the G-raid back into the 5.0 system it showed and played 2 channels of audio.

Hope that answers your question well enough.

Yeah all my serial #’s at work are the same format a single letter followed by 9 sets of 3 numbers and letters.

    Typically it is a single letter-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 letters

Now one of mine was a 4.5 upgraded to 5 then 5.1 and it wanted the serial #’s for DVD Studio Pro and Motion as well.

    Good luck.

December 22, 2006 at 1:28 am in reply to: Multiple Effects In Final Cut?

That works if the transition points are all on the same track.
If you want to add dissolves to multiple tracks hold the Apple key and click on all the transition points that you want and then go to effects in the menu bar at the top and choose the effrect you want to use it can be any effect not just the default.

(You can’t have multiple transistions on the same track this way)

I don’t really know what the limit is, but I have had 4 daisy chained together and have not had a problem.

What type of storage are you using and how full is it?
When you get any harddrive more tham 50% full it will slowdown drastically.
Rule of Thumb is to keep at least 20% of your drive free at all times.

November 14, 2006 at 9:12 pm in reply to: Saving Favorite Effects Externaly

Yeah I do this also, but I was looking for a way of saving it similar to saving a custom keyboard or window layout, but it seems like from everyone’s answers I can do it the way I was thinking.
The next best thing would be doing it the way everyone suggests.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
