I just received my disks back and am getting ready to upgrade my “at home” FCP. We just finished crossgrading
the “at work” machine and bumped into a snag. The serial number requestor wouldnt take the FCP 5.0
    serial number.
    It
turns out it wanted the original FCP 4.5 full install SN. Now, at home I threw out the 4.5 manual
with the sticker on it, but I did find my original disk (replaced by Apple because the “original” original wasnt being read by the super drive). I wrote what looks like the SN on the disk envelope and wanted to make sure it was what I needed. I will just type “x’s” tosubstitute for the real numbers. Does this look like the
    format of a 4.5 sn? x-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx

Open your current FCP 4.5 and select about Final Cut Pro and you will see your serial number. If I recall, earlier versions of FCP left out the last 3 letters.

Yeah all my serial #’s at work are the same format a single letter followed by 9 sets of 3 numbers and letters.

    Typically it is a single letter-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 numbers-3 letters-3 letters

Now one of mine was a 4.5 upgraded to 5 then 5.1 and it wanted the serial #’s for DVD Studio Pro and Motion as well.

    Good luck.
