  • HELP! Unable to open project.

Posted by Steve Cohen on October 25, 2006 at 12:46 pm

When I try to open a certain project I am getting a message saying
“This projesct is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut.”
All of are systems are version 5.1.2 and this job was cut on 5.1.2.

It last opened fine on 10-23-06 at 4:30pm, but that Auto save will not even open up correctly now.
It starts to open and then FCP wil unexpectedly quit.

Help I’m on a deadline to get this out to the network.

    Thanks

Have you tried trashing the FCP preference files yet?

Yes I did try trashing the pref’s and I actually created a new user/account on the MAC so that had no preferences.

The strange thing is that as mysteriously that this happened, I tried to open the project later in the day and it opened without a problem on every system even ones that I had not trashed the prefs on.

    Go Figure.

    Thanks

That IS wierd. If it happens again (and I hope it doesn’t) could you start a new thread explaining your problem? I’m sure others here would want to know in case they run into a similar situation.
