Ditto what they said – do windows updates manually and with caution.

See if you have a system restore point to which you can roll back.

If you don’t have a restore point available, then review the System Restore settings, make sure it is on and set to backup files as well as config.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. The HD output on the 550 is nice for hooking up to a TV for viewing.

If you can render a project in .mts, and then put it on an SD, it might play back. But please stay away from the internal flash … once it dies your 550 will be a lot less useful.

The 550e was sort of a pinnacle of perfection for Sony. Big 3.5″ screen, great menus compared to the later models, super-good stabilization, a handy -iAuto button, gps, night-shot, etc. I really love mine. The only real flaws are the low-light performance and the AVCHD 1.0 encoder, limited to 1080 60i at 24 Mbps.

Back in 2009, I too, in frustration with my old nameless video editing software, did some looking and found the free trial of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9.

After the trial expired I bought it.
Then I bought at full price (more or less) SVP9.
Then upgraded to SVP10, then SVP11, and now SVP12.

Yes, at times it can be a little frustrating, but I have been very pleased over the years.

Although it is possible to burn a BD from Vegas, I always render the m2v and ac3 separately and them do them in DVDA. You got DVDA when you bought Vegas.

AFAIK DVD video has a max 29.97 fps using 60i. That is why the double-rate “60p” is not available in the DVD tempplates.

One of the pros on this forum can give us the final word.

Before you buy the Samsung 840, read this torture-test report.

I was about to buy the Samsung until I read it. The Samsung, although probably useable, did not fare will in the group. After reading it I got a Corsair Neutron 480 GTX.

The Neutron seemed to have a good, steady performance. The Samsung read-times graph was all over the place.

Hi;

I have a GH3 and do this all the time, but at 1080p. Don’t see why it would not work at 720p. You may have to play with Smart Resample, though.

Here is a screen shot of the Frame Rate drop down that lets you pick “60p”

I have an HDR-CX550V which is very similar.

I think this would be a very bad idea. I live in fear of the day the internal flash on that camera will fail.

It only has 64G capacity – that is tiny by modern standards. You can pick up an external 500G SATA III drive for $50!

The only way I can think to put files on the internal flash of your 550e would be to copy them to an SD card, put the SD card in the cam, and use the “move” function to move them from the card to the internal drive.

Sam, the C:\Windows\assembly\NativeImages_v2.0.50727_64\PresentationCore is part of the .net subsystem.

For years I refered to .net as .nyet – just say no. But it has its hooks into everything. Vegas uses it.

I have found that sometimes different versions of .net step on each other. Have you by any chance installed old software recently on your computer, something that might have stepped on the version of .net that Vegas likes?
