  • I’d be happy to stick with Vegas 12 or 13
    But…

    I’m building a new system. Will need to install it. Are the licensing servers still working? Afraid to try…

    Would be great if someone can confirm this.

  • Thanks Aaron;

    This is super helpful!

    As a first step before I actually try to render anything with MVP 14, I’ve done a few uploads of the unadulterated footage from my Hero5 shooting in 4K mode. Confirmed that YT does correctly present it as 4K after you wait for all the resolution versions to process. Interestingly, I notice that I see the 4K selection if I’m viewing YT in Chrome, but not in Firefox. Huh. Go Figure.

    Baby steps , hope to do some render tests in the next few days.

    Thanks again, Aaron!

  • Hi Chris;

    I’ll stick with you on this one, I’m about to buy a hero 5 Black and start posting more than 1080.

    I agree, some YT 4Kk vids look stunning, others not so much. I’ve had some chats with a German YT guy named Gunter Kiphard, his channel is Area 28. One example of great 4K footage here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-tTnynDL_c

    and here:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IockJqio-cQ

    Notice the lack of banding, the crispness, everything is great. He is also shooting 60 fps, which I know from experience enhances the look of the video, even at 1080.

    Now yes, if your download speed is terrible, you will get terrible results. But that is not what you are seeing; YT limits bandwidth on 4K streams and it is rare to see it greater than 20 Mbps with occasional spikes of 30 mbls. I’m guessing you have already eliminated that as the source of the problem.

    Even on a non-4K TV, some 4K vids look much better than others. I’m convinced it has something to do with the rendering, and Gunter confirmed. One of his “tricks” is to use the highest bit rate possible on the render. He has some other tips, I will review and get back. He uses a different Magix software package, not the Magix Vegas software.

    Can you post the link to one of your vids that is less than stunning?

    I’m drooling over your camera …. it’s really great.

    Hi Hubert;

    Saw no one had replied, I hate it when that happens so I thought I would try to help.

    I’ll try to reproduce this on my SVP 12, but can you elaborate a bit? I’m not familiar with monophonic, where is that setting?

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hopefully there will a be nice discount. I paid almost $300 for the upgrade to MVP 14 about 6 months ago and have not even installed it yet…

    Does anyone know if Magix is still monitoring this Creative Cow forum, or are they only frequenting the vegascreative forum?

  • Aleksey!

    Thanks so much, I was beginning to think I was banned or something was wrong. Been on Creative Cow since 2011 and never had post go unanswered for so long as the original one I posted.

    I will try the MainConcept tomorrow and report back! Hopefully it will allow a nice high bit rate. ( I know that YT always degrades it, but I and others have a suspicion, not entirely based on science, that if you give YT high rate input, it seems to degrade it less.)

    I’m also planning on finally installing my copy of MVP 14 , I just downloaded build 270 and am hoping it is stable. I’ve been using SVP 12 build 770, wish is amazingly stable compared to SVP 13.

    I don’t actually have a Hero 5 black yet, but I want to make sure I can render before I shell out the $400 plus tax.

    Thanks again! ????????????

    Just a quick reply from my phone at work.

    Your proposed COU will be great. Just get the best AND graphics card you can afford.

    Vegas does not need a lof of RAM for rendering. But if you want to see longer dynamic ram previews, load up. 8 GB is more than enough for rendering.

    Spend your $$ on CPU and on Video card. RAM and drives are much less important.

    Install Process Explorer and you can see in real-time your bottlenecks.

    AMD cards seem to make Vegas happier than Nvidia, but both are good … if you shell out for the top end units.

    Like this one, I wish I had it…

  • Laptops are fairly easy to take apart. You will need a set of mini phillps and mini-Torx drivers. Just take photos at every step so you can put thinks back.

    Are the internal fans still working? Can you hear them running?

    As a last resort you could try one of these:
