Re-posting my question about rendering 2.7K 60p projects
Sorry to have to do this, I know it’s a breach of protocol, but it’s been 5 days with no responses to my original post. I’m stuck.

About to upgrade to a Hero 5 Black for helmet cam action video. For the last 2 years I have been shooting with the Hero 3+ Silver using 1080 60p, with project set to 1920×1080 59.94. I render with a tweaked version of the Internet 1920×1080 template, set to ~ 26 mbps. ( see attached). I get good results when uploaded to YouTube.
John, before you jump in, I hope you have changed your position on high-res, high-fps video on YT since 2015. I use a ChromeCast ultra connected to a Samsung 4K TV, and there is a noticeable increase in quality between 30 fps and 60 fps (less motion) blur, and 720 p looks VERY blurry compared to 1080 – and not just on my TV, but on my computer. 720p is long dead …
Many of my YT pals are already shooting , rendering and uploading 4K 30 fps, and their stuff looks way better than my 1080 stuff.
I still want to shoot at 60 fps, so the highest resolution for 60p on the H5Black is2704x1520.
SVP does not seem to have any templates for the resolution and frame rate. I tried customizing the Sony XAVC S 4K 3840×2160 Long -GOP 59.94p template, but it will not allow me to select 2704×1540. ( I can set my project to 2704×1520 59.94 without any problems)
Any solutions to this dilemma would be greatly appreciated!

Why don’t you create your own template? For example, use Sony AVC renderer:

hmm.. it seems that Sony AVC can’t render in this format – it throws an exception. Just tried Mainconcept AVC – it worked!

Thanks so much, I was beginning to think I was banned or something was wrong. Been on Creative Cow since 2011 and never had post go unanswered for so long as the original one I posted.
I will try the MainConcept tomorrow and report back! Hopefully it will allow a nice high bit rate. ( I know that YT always degrades it, but I and others have a suspicion, not entirely based on science, that if you give YT high rate input, it seems to degrade it less.)
I’m also planning on finally installing my copy of MVP 14 , I just downloaded build 270 and am hoping it is stable. I’ve been using SVP 12 build 770, wish is amazingly stable compared to SVP 13.
I don’t actually have a Hero 5 black yet, but I want to make sure I can render before I shell out the $400 plus tax.

Nope. In fact, more people are watching YouTube on their smart phone than a desktop these days so while I appreciate that content creators with their 4K monitors are very proud of the quality of their YouTube video… no one else notices or cares as they watch on their smart phone or tablet. (sorry)
Another thing providers like AT&T are doing is transcoding video for mobile devices. I recently got a notice that all video will be delivered over cellular at 480p unless I opt-out and I did NOT opt-out because 480p looks fine on my 4.6″ iPhone 6. People who are still using desktops need to realize that the Internet is mostly being consumed on mobile devices which makes everything look fantastic on really small screens. My kids use their MacBooks for writing term papers and that’s about it. Everything else they do, including email, is done on their iPhones. They will never appreciate your high resolution, high bitrate, high frame rate, video.
BTW, I just received an email from my cell phone carrier that I have exceeded my high speed limit for the month (thanks kids) and will be rate limited until the next billing cycle so the last thing that I want to watch is bandwidth hungry 60fps video on my iPhone. This is another consideration. Bandwidth is still quite expensive and I would rather watch a low bandwidth video that streams smoothly than a high bandwidth video that stutters and stops periodically to buffer, which ruins the viewing experience and needlessly consumes my limited bandwidth.
