You mean behind the AE camera I assume. Well, you might think that the beam effect would do it, but I personally wouldn’t be too happy with that look. Try this series of techniques:
-put your video layer in the spot you want it (on the screen)
    -duplicate your video layer
-apply a directional blur or CC radial fast blur to the duped layer
-then use bezier warp to make the shine close to a point (at the projector)
-you may have to do some masking as well
This way you have a shine that corresponds to your video layer. Other than that you may want to try the strobe effect as well, depending on the look you’re going for.

There’s bezier warp. It won’t give you very many curves in the string, though. Also CC Bend it- but same problem. What’s wrong with wavewarp?

  • Someone just posted a question about this. You shouldn’t even have to scroll down to see it.

You have an arrow hitting a bullDOZER or a bullsEYE? Just wondering. Well I’d recommend finding a photo of an arrow, cutting it out in photoshop, then using it as a 3D layer. Not sure what your footage looks like, but motion tracking could be an option. Either that or, if it is a simple camera move, just hand-keyframe it.

I could swear I saw some sort of tutorial about that very thing involving scripting of some sort. Couldn’t find it though. 🙁 Aharon? Was it you?

  • Are you talking about exporting? Because if so do NOT use the “export” feature. Either pre-render or make movie.

Did you follow Andrew Kramer’s tut on this or try your own way? If you do it his way you shouldn’t have this problem.

I’m confused as to why you used 3D stroke to make that box. It looks very 2D to me. Anyways, I have no idea why the tracker wouldn’t work. Does it work on other footage?
